Labor of Love
How often do you do have this fundraiser? First time in honor of Labor Day
What do you do to prepare for the fundraiser? Borrowed a crib and set it up in
social hall. We also decorated it. Made posters and paper sheets with
information and decorations on them, to catch people’s eye.
They were put on tables and walls prior to function.
What are the costs to put on this fundraiser? Bought gifts that matched answers
to a quiz, wrapped them to give out to winners, and participants. Bought most of
the decorations at the dollar store, asked for donations of baby wrapping paper
too.
How much do you charge for the tickets or meal, etc.? Did not charge, asked for
baby items, gifts to put in the crib.
How many members are needed to put on the fundraiser? 3-5 people
How much do you usually profit from the fundraiser? Bar makes profit. Crib was
full of baby items.People having fun and laughs will bring them back into the club.
What do you usually hold the fundraiser for? We donated cash and crib full of
gifts to Baby Love, an organization that supplies unwed mothers leaving the
hospital. They usually receive used items and were so happy to have new items.
Our beer distributor donated hats, shirts, key chains, bottle openers and coolie
jackets for beer bottles which we auctioned off and raised about $200 to give
Baby Love.
Additional Comments: We asked to have people dress up as pregnant women, with a
special category for men dressed up pregnant.
We had a grand march with the pregnant people being judged and winner was crowned with
"Mother To Be" crown. The crown was donated back so we can use it again next year. Old
and young alike dressed for the function and most of the others also participated in the games
we played. There sure were lots of laughs especially the way the men dressed. We did the
function on a day we have music and the band like the idea so much that next Labor Day
where ever they are playing, they want to incorporate the idea. Game participates liked picking
out the small wrapped gifts which got them more involved with the function even though they
might not have dressed pregnant.
