Comedy Night
How often do you do have this fundraiser? A once a year event for the last three years.
What type of fundraiser is this? Dinner/Show/Dance
What do you do to prepare for the fundraiser? Find and contact a local agency that supplies both local and national talent. Put together three crews. 1)Entertainment and ticket sales. 2)Food prep and serving. 3)Set-up and clean-up.
What are the costs to put on this fundraiser? To get top talent you'll probably spend between $1500 and $1700. Food (buffet style and inexpensive) with planning will cost about $3 per person. A DJ is the variable. We're lucky to be able to convince one to come to the show with a guest and feed them in exchange for his services. He is also allowed a 'tip' jar.
How much do you charge for the tickets or meal, etc.? $20 per person with sales cut off at the first 200
How many members are needed to put on the fundraiser? All three crews together total 10 people.
How much do you usually profit from the fundraiser? Average is $2000 towards what it was for.
What do you usually hold the fundraiser for? The last one was for the building fund but the first two were for charity.
Additional Comments:
We begin ours in our hall at 6:30 for socializing. Food (usually simple but filling) is put out at 7:30. The first comedian goes on at 8:15. At the end of the show, about 9:15, the DJ plays music and the people stay and dance until 1. Six hours of fun and entertainment for $20 IS a good deal.
